Heavy Vehicle Safety Initiative Grants

We are excited to soon begin a Network Level Heavy Vehicle Route Assessment (NHVRA) for The Flinders Ranges Council.  They recently were awarded a funding grant to develop and carry out a route assessment and risk analysis of Council’s local and heavy vehicle road network, through Round 6 of the Heavy Vehicle Safety Initiative (HVSI).  The HVSI was started by the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) on behalf of the Commonwealth Government.  So far, it has provided $28 million for 117 grants over the past 6 years.  Round 6 of the HVSI includes backing for new education, research, training and technology initiatives that aim to deliver improved safety outcomes for the heavy vehicle industry.  For more information read the NHVR website article and list of projects won in Round 6 below.
